WisLUG update for February 2017

Mansion by Chris FlorianThat first month of 2017 just flew by, didn’t it? Here’s what WisLUG has coming up during the month of February.

First, don’t forget that on February 4 members will be displaying their work at the Hedberg Public Library in Janesville. We will have MOCs big and small on display from 12-3pm. Come by and see us!

Monthly meetings:

At both meetings this month, we’ll be doing a minifig and parts swap. So, if you have any figs or parts you are looking to trade to someone else, bring them! You can help find them new homes and find something you want at the same time.

Coming up in the future for WisLUG events:

  • On March 11th, we will be displaying at the Milton Public Library from 11am-2pm.
  • On May 13, we will be displaying at the Mini Maker Faire in Madison, all day.
  • On June 17 and 18, we will once again be at BrickWorld Chicago. Come out and join us for the day!

A very busy year ahead for WisLUG. We hope to see you at an event or meeting this month.

WisLUG update for January 2017

Happy New Year LEGO fans!

WisLUG had a great time providing the displays again this year for Olbrich Botanical Garden’s Holiday Express show. Thank you to all who came out to see our creations, while supporting a valuable community resource in Madison. Our displays are down now, but you can see photos of our work this year online.

Here’s what WisLUG has coming up during the month of January:

We’re looking forward to seeing all of our members after the holiday break. We’re also hoping to welcome some new adult LEGO fans who may want to come out and see what we’re all about!

WisLUG will be holding a variety of public display events in the coming months. On February 4th, come see us at the Janesville Public Library from noon-3pm. We’ll also be at Madison Mini Maker Faire this coming May and Brickworld Chicago on Father’s Day weekend in June.

WisLUG update for December 2016

trainHappy holidays to all!

As we do every year, WisLUG will have no official meetings during the month of December. We will resume our regular monthly meetings in January, with the Madison chapter continuing to meet at Bricks and Minifigs in Fitchburg on the second Sunday of the month and the Milwaukee chapter meeting on the third Saturday of the month at Mayfair Mall in Wauwatosa.

While we may not be getting together officially, don’t forget about WisLUG’s presence at the annual Holiday Express show at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison. Members have worked hard creating a dozen large displays, well over a hundred Christmas ornaments, and a full display case of creations. More than 80,000 bricks make up the work we have on hand during the month of December, along with beautiful holiday plants and some super cool garden scale trains. The show opens on Saturday, December 3rd and runs daily through the end of the month. Don’t miss it!

Next year is already shaping up to be a big one. We have public display events planned for every month from February to June, with three of those taking place at brand new locations. Be sure to like us on Facebook or subscribe to our mailing list for updates about where we will be.

I would like to thank all of our members and fans for a wonderful year. WisLUG had several amazing events this year that saw us reach well over 60,000 people. Thank you to everyone who built for us and for those who came out to enjoy our work. See you in 2017!

WisLUG update for November 2016

unkittycastleNovember has arrived! In just a few short weeks, the holiday season will be upon us. However, we’re still hoping you can join us for some WisLUG fun this month.

Our monthly meetings:

Don’t forget – we will be having a Christmas ornament building contest at both meetings in November. Bring your best LEGO-built Christmas ornaments to compete against other members. (All designs entered in the competition must be original)

There will be prizes for the top three builders! There’s no limit on how many different ornaments you can enter into the contest, although prizes are limited to one per person. You can only enter an ornament for competition at one of the meetings.

All ornaments will be included in our December display at Olbrich Botanical Gardens. WisLUG will once again be showing its work at the Holiday Express show. Come see massive LEGO creations, mixed in with festive holiday plants and model trains!

Hope to see everyone this month!
